Case Studies

M-Elec was engaged to design a major lighting upgrade for better uniformity of lighting in all outdoor areas, lobbies and restrooms for Woolworths Gladstone.

This was a major lighting upgrade to achieve better uniformity of light in all outdoor areas, the lobby and restrooms. The tipping point for management to go ahead with the upgrade, was the warranty scheme M-Elec provides (3 years On-Site & 7 years for the products) and the return on investment case study, which demonstrated significant savings - more than $1,000 per year, per fitting! (In this case, the existing metal halide lights illuminating the carpark were replaced with ROX area lights). The payback period is instant. LED technology generally uses half the power for the same amount of lumens produced; but this is not the only saving. Old technologies such as metal halide, fluorescent and mercury vapour lighting need continuous lamp replacement, which needs to be factored into running costs as well. The local, well-established contractor, Corfields Electrical, did an outstanding job swapping the fittings. This project highlights the importance and benefits of switching to new technologies such as LED. Needless to say that the newly illuminated spaces also look much better than before the upgrade.

TITAN IP65 battens to illuminate the carpark areas under the sails, NOX floodlights at the loading ramp area, 1box-90 & 1box-C2030 downlights in the exterior eaves, NOX highbays in the lobby and 1box-C2030 in the restrooms.
M-Elec was engaged to design a new lighting layout for maximum uniformity and the best solution to feature the shops products.

With high value products, this jewellery store’s goal was to ensure their range of products was displayed to feature the best and most glorious segments. M-Elec was able to design a specific solution that met both the shops requirements and was easy to install for the electrician. With strip, low and high powered downlights the stores uniformity highlighted the jewellery effectively and comfortably.

M-Elec was engaged to design a suitable layout and illumination plan for multiple areas in the new Dakabin Shopping Centre.

The new shopping centre in Dakabin required illumination to meet multiple standards including AS/NZS1158.3.1 Cat P11(a), high lumen outputs and long warranty coverage. M-Elec’s project team where able to both design a suitable solution that covered multiple areas including; covered walkways, shop fronts, foyers, carparks and under shade structures. With a clear brief from the Woolworths group, M-Elec products exceeded the requirements with a fantastic look and quality feel to the end result.

M-Elec was engaged to design and plan a complete upgrade of lighting products for the Belmont Road Shopping Centre carparks.

The existing lighting in the carpark was well outside of its efficiency stage and struggling to provide suitable illumination. With its existing fittings being over 15 years old, using 100W metal halide lamps with poor reflectance. With poor outputs the carpark felt dated and lacked the ambience the shopping centre desired.

Products and plans:
NOX10 floodlights with 5700K outputs, coupled with type 3 lenses for beam control and adjustable spigot adaptors for easy installation. The contractor was easily able to retrofit existing poles saving time and extra costs and because M-Elec’s spigot adaptors are adaptable and adjustable the beam control could be precisely set for maximum illumination levels.
With a focus on creating an energetic, confident and positive atmosphere, M-Elec was engaged to match the lighting to the customer’s needs and application.

When you walk into Olympia you immediately needed to ‘feel’ that you had entered a place which was far away from being a typical gym and a place to call home. The lighting design needed to meet Australian standards but also create the atmosphere the client desired. With the brief and a skilled team M-Elec created an clear and concise plan and layout for multiple areas including walkways, lift foyers, display and feature lighting
